Smashbox - Juxtapose Eyeshadow Quad

It's no joke, I'm a Smashbox junkie attempting Rehab. I have so much Smashbox stuff, I don't know what to do with it all and there is no way in this world I'll get to use it before I die. So it either needs to find new homes, or I will put my effort into using them.

I wish I could tell you when I picked this one up, pretty sure it was part of a box set at the time it was acquired.

I figured I'd swatch it (as it's already been swatched before) and show you all pictures of it if you are interested in picking one for yourself.

Thoughts?
Passing, even though the brown color is nice and has depth, none of the colors really have great color payout nor do they blend well or are soft. They seem extremely chalky to me, then again, I'm also using more Chanel these days so there is a stark difference in quality.

Smashbox for Summer 2010 Info from Bloggers

I know, I'm a SB addict, but I didn't blog about this? AM I MAD??

Nah, just with all of the product I have already, sometimes I just slow down, watch the new stuff come in and don't jump on it right away (after all, I got Ulta coupons and discounts to apply and Sephora product launches for the line and QVC to watch all at the same time!). I have too much product and don't use it fast enough, so I don't want to buy something I'm excited about when I was excited about the rest of it too when I took it home!

It's horrible, good money, sitting there pissed at me because I'm not using it. I love you SB... I really do!

Anyway, here's some coverage of the new SB line by Chic Profile here and here.

So, what do I think of the new stuff?

Well, on the Waterproof Eye pencil, I picked up a 3 pack from QVC as a pre-launch or a 2 L.E. item from the company for QVC's sale only. I got Onyx and the other two special colors of Vibrant Amethyst and Platinum. Sure, there are other colors available, but with the Wish box gifted to me from a BB RAOK from TPF, I figured I probably have enough pencils to last me for a while, plus I could not pass up the luck of having sharpeners in the caps, something my other ones don't have.

The brow pencil to go? Well, until Linen and Coffee aren't so dark that it makes me look like a brunette and they bring out a lighter color I'll be passing on it. They discontinued Ash Blonde in the Brow Tech so I had to get an extra since it's the perfect match for me.

Eye shadows... I do LOOOVe the new colors, but until I buy an empty pallet and de-pot my shadows it's such a bear to have all of them in their own individual pots to keep track of. I might pick them up, but not right away, and will have to compare against what I have now before I add more to make sure I'm filling gaps. I did get the big SB Ulta pallet shadows/blushes/etc gift set at Xmas, and it has mini shadows of just about all the colors they had at the time or sell... it's a beauty.

The brushes? Well, I'll pick them up, but since no one had them on sale I was less tempted too right off the bat.

Naked Beauty...

Of the new Naked items, probably the only one I'll pick up would be the new Photo Finish Lid primer, but that's only if I can't re-create it with the old color and a bit of my Temptu highlighter in a gold color on top of it.

The glosses and blushes aren't significantly enough to me different than what I already own, and GOD KNOWS I have so much gloss I haven't used that it would be silly for me to get more at this time. Might I pick it up on sale at some point? Probably will, if the cost is right. I'd probably pass on the Halo Bronzer unless I try it, as most bronzers make me look like I have more color than I'll ever have by end of summer on my face... just too strong for me.

Where it all started

It started long ago, with a customizable website for makeup called Reflect.com

For me, it was great, if something didn't work you sent it back, got it re-worked and a new mixture sent out to you. You could name your stuff anything you liked (how I got some of the names by the filter I'll never know...) and choose whatever colors/scents/effects you wanted.

It's the only place I got some awesome gothy black shimmery frosted lipstick that looks great! It was an old club fav of mine. They continued to have some great sales, discounts, coupon offers which is really what helped make it affordable for me at the time. I think it closed in 2002/2003? I'd have to look again at my old documents to verify that.

You'll also note in the above picture some other brands like Tony & Tina glitter and some Afterthoughts glittery eye shadow as well. Some Avon eye liners or glitter eye shadow as well as lipstick or concealer pot with non-name brand brush.

THEN came my introduction to Smashbox (a $500 splurge by my Husband) which quickly grew:

Granted NOT the best storage method I could find, but w/o going out to buy something it is an ok fit for now.
